Participants on the Life and Work Skills programme at Field of Dreams Cork are working in the polytunnel
Participants on the Life and Work Skills programme at Field of Dreams Cork at work in one of the polytunnels. Here they are working towards QQI L3 in Planting & Potting by hand.

The Field of Dreams is set on a 3 acre site made available by Munster Agricultural Society in Curraheen., Cork. It is an inspirational training environment, with an emphasis on learning through meaningful & productive tasks in a social and holistic setting. With funding support from the Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine, this is a model of social farming, where all the benefits of working in nature (physical, mental, emotional, social) are already been experienced by those learning, working and volunteering here.

The Field of Dreams boasts a training room, commercial grade kitchen with cafe area, 2 polytunnels, market garden, sensory garden, remembrance garden, orchard, covered courtyard and recreational areas. A fruit garden is currently under construction, due for completion in Spring 2019.  We will be forever grateful to the many supporters who have been instrumental in us getting this far.

At Field of Dreams one of the ultimate objectives for our trainees is placement in meaningful employment. A dedicated Employment Support Specialist works with businesses within the Cork community towards placing and supporting adults with Down syndrome in roles appropriate to both the individual and the business.

Field of Dreams Cork is an arm of Down Syndrome Cork focusing on supporting adults with Down syndrome in the Cork region. We know that adults with Down syndrome can and do live fulfilling lives but they can also meet with obstacles. We estimate that 95% of adults with Down syndrome in Ireland are presently unemployed. We believe that this need not be the case. Do you want to get involved as Volunteer, Business offering Work Placement, Supporter ? Contact Sharon : s.mulcahy@fieldofdreamscork.ie
