Down Syndrome Cork has always received tremendous backing from the businesses of Cork and our latest project, the Field of Dreams, is proving to be no exception. Many businesses in the construction and horticultural field have rowed in behind us with support by way of donations, pro-bono expertise and skills and provision of materials /hardware/ equipment. We have received significant financial support from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, the Department of Health, Cork County Council, Marks & Spencers, ESB, the Bons Secours Hospital & Pepsico which has enabled us to fund construction on site.
Our construction partners, PM Group and C-Field Construction, are managing this project on a pro-bono basis and have been instrumental in delivering the completed site to a superbly high standard, on time and within budget.
Field of Dreams is fortunate to have partnered with Munster Agricultural Society who offered an initial 3 acres with the possibility of another 2 acres in the future. This site is adjacent to the N40 in Curraheen, Cork.
“The principals of our society are based on agricultural, industrial and educational development so we see this as a good social partnership to develop the facility.”
Gerard Murphy, Chairman, Munster Agricultural Society
August 2016 – Marks & Spencer came on board to support the work of their long standing employees and our Chairperson, Ray O’Callaghan with a 3 year corporate sponsorship package announced in August 2016. Alison Grainger, M&S Head of Ireland explains
“We encourage all our stores to support their local community and our colleagues do a brilliant job of getting involved and making a real difference, but Ray has really raised the bar with his work for Down Syndrome Cork. Ray is passionate about everything he undertakes on behalf of the charity and has been the main driver in bringing the Field of Dreams project to life. He has also been a real inspiration to his team in the Cork store, with many of them planning to volunteer with the project, and we are really pleased to support a charity our colleagues are so excited to be involved with.”
