The Field of Dreams by John Sweetnam

John SweetnamJohn Sweetnam writes about what working outdoors in a garden setting will mean to him and other adults with Down syndrome in the Cork region when Field of Dreams is operational. John is a Board member of Down Syndrome Cork and has been a strong supporter of Field of Dreams from the first stages of it’s planning.

I get outside for fresh air in my lungs and learn about different types of flowers herbs and fruit bushes growing.

My hopes and future are very bright. I learn about growing seeds in rows and put them into trays and pots by sizes. I learn how to plant the trees in a row. I like touching the herbs and smelling them and different types are rosemary, thyme, mint, oregano, parsley chives. I learn to have smoothies with fruit different kinds like cherries apples grapes strawberries blueberries raspberries mango figs dates oranges bananas pears. I hope to learn much more about the vegetables and eat health foods. I like to learn things about putting food in my lunch box to eat.
